Athletes of the Week for January 2, 2017

Women’s Basketball

Lisa Murphy  —  Carnegie Mellon University  —  McLean, VA (McLean)

Senior Lisa Murphy averaged 31.3 points and 13.3 rebounds in three Carnegie Mellon University wins and became the program’s all-time rebounding leader. She shot 84.2 percent from the field (32-for-38) and 83.3 percent from the free throw line (30-for-36). Murphy recorded double-doubles in all three games for the 12th-ranked Tartans, including a 34-point, 14-rebound effort in a 76-54 win over Capital University.

Men’s Basketball

Blaine Crawford  —  University of Chicago  —  St. Paul, MN (The Blake School)

Senior Blaine Crawford averaged 19.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game as University of Chicago split four games. He registered three double-doubles and shot 68.2 percent from the floor (30-for-44). Crawford scored 26 points and added nine rebounds in the Maroons’ 121-101 win at Rhodes College and contributed 22 points and 13 boards in an 82-70 loss to top-ranked Babson College.

They are selected on the basis of their individual performances and contributions to team efforts during the past week in both Association and non-Association competition.
