Other Outstanding Performances

Baseball

Tyler Horvath (CWRU) pitched four innings of relief, yielding one run and four hits, to earn the victory in the Spartans’ 4-3 win over Ohio Wesleyan University… Caleb Shulman (Emory) went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs batted in to help lead the Eagles to an 8-4 win at Piedmont College. Joey Bock pitched six innings, giving up one run on three hits with eight strikeouts, to record the win… Johnny LaMantia (WashU) hit .267 with four hits and four RBI as the Bears finished the week 4-0, including 2-0 against top-10 teams.

Softball

Arisa Cleaveland (CWRU) batted .474 (9-of-19) with four runs scored and five runs batted in during the Spartans’ 4-2 week. Sidney Brannam posted a 3-0 record and a 2.16 earned run average… Nicole Hay (Washington) went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the Bears’ 4-1 loss to Webster University.

Women’s Tennis

Ola Wojciak (Carnegie Mellon) posted a combined 4-0 mark in singles and doubles in the Tartans’ two 9-0 wins over College of Wooster. She earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, and dropped a total of two games in four sets in singles… Ally Persky (WashU) earned wins at first doubles and No. 1 singles, dropping just three games in two sets, in the Bears’ 9-0 victory over DePauw College.

Men’s Tennis

Jonathan Nottingham (CWRU) earned wins at first doubles and in straight sets at No. 1 singles in the Tartans’ 9-0 victory at Grove City College… Abhi Ramireddy (WashU) won at No. 1 doubles and then won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles in the Bears’ 7-0 win over Maryville University.

Women’s Outdoor Track and Field

Samantha Giordani (Carnegie Mellon) broke school records in the 100- (12.23 seconds) and 200-meter (25.22 seconds) events at the Tartans’ home meet. Both her times rank first in the Association and in the top-seven in NCAA Division III… Rebekah Bondi (Emory) won the 100-meter dash (12.37 seconds) and the long jump (5.42 meters) at the Birmingham-Southern College Hilltop Classic. Taylor Robinson captured the javelin with a winning mark of 39.11 meters.

Men’s Outdoor Track and Field

Spencer Moore (Emory) set the Birmingham-Southern Hilltop Classic meet record, winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:28.02. Brett Henshey set a meet record in the high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters, which ranks second in NCAA Division III this season… Matt Moore (WashU) won the long jump (6.70 meters) at the Bears’ season-opening home quadrangular.
