St. Paul, Minn. – The Scots played their fourth non-conference game of the season against #19 University of Chicago. Despite playing tough against the Maroons, the Scots fell 1-0 and now have a record of 1-3.
In the first half, the Scots showed tremendous defensive efforts. The Scots stood their ground against the Maroons offense, blocking shots and defending University of Chicago's nine corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper,
Cade Fink (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North), registered six saves in the half to keep the game scoreless.
When the second half whistle blew, the Scots looked strong. Great defensive plays from sophomore
Howard Henderson (Minneapolis, Minn./Blake School) and junior
Jacob Kresnicka (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) allowed first year
Hans Haenicke (Lisle, Ill./Benet Academy) to create opportunities up front for the Scots. Despite valiant efforts by the Scots, the Maroons fired a shot into the back of the net in the 59
th minute and held the lead for the rest of the game.
The Scots will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 12. They will host the Colorado College Tigers at Macalester Stadium. Kickoff will be at 12:00 p.m.
