Fisher's Offense Erupts In Win Over Rochester

The St. John Fisher College baseball program produced a season-high 14 runs on 16 hits, as the Cardinals cruised to a 14-2 win over visiting University of Rochester on Wednesday.

With the win, Fisher, currently receiving votes in the national coaches poll, improves to 12-6 overall.  The Cardinals have won four straight and are 7-2 in their last nine goals, with both losses coming in one-run games.

Nate Roethel led the Cardinals with four hit and three RBI (both career-highs).   Cody Wiktorski and Evan Ryan each tallied two hits, two runs and two RBI, while Victor Konstantinovsky went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.  Mike Roman also enjoyed a multi-hit game.

Dominick Pisciotto raised his record to 2-1 on the year, allowing just four hits over 5.2 innings. Kevin Berge, Kyle Chambers and Loukas Brigham allowed just one hit over the final 3.1 innings of action.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 1-0 lead and tacked on another run in the second before the Yellowjackets tied the game with two runs in the top of the fourth.  Fisher, however, answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to start a run of 12 straight runs from the Cardinals.

After Frank Carnevale walked to start the inning, Malcolm Kelsey tripled to the base of the wall in straight-away center to give Fisher the lead for good.

Fisher added four more runs in the sixth and five in the seventh.

The Cardinals return to action at 4 p.m. on Friday and will host Rochester Institute of Technology for a single 9-inning game.
