CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Augsburg University women's basketball team fell to the University of Chicago 60-55 in its road opener on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first quarter was back-and-forth throughout its duration, with the Maroons hitting a three pointer with just five seconds remaining to break a 17-17 tie and take a three-point advantage into the quarter break. The Auggies took the lead back in the second quarter, taking a 26-22 lead with 1:28 remaining in the second. The Maroons would go on to score the last four points of the half to tie the game at 26 at the half.
• The Auggies came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter, going on an early 12-0 run to take a 40-28 lead with 4:49 remaining. After an 8-0 run by the Maroons to close out the quarter, the Auggies took a 42-39 lead into the final frame. Chicago would take the lead back as part of a 12-0 run, giving the Maroons a 58-49 lead that they would never surrender.
• The Auggies were more effective creating second-chance points, scoring 11 to the Maroons' eight. Augsburg also capitalized on turnovers in the game, scoring 15 off turnovers to Chicago's 11.

Grace Eastman (JR, St. Francis, Minn./St. Francis HS) had a strong afternoon for the Auggies, tallying 16 points on 7-12 shooting from floor to go along with three rebounds and a steal.
Jaley Coplin (JR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) was also a key contributor for Augsburg, notching 15 points on 4-11 shooting from the floor and 3-7 from beyond the arc. Coplin also contributed seven rebounds and two assists.

Selena Lor (SR, Winona, Minn./Winona HS) also reached double figures, scoring 14 on 6-12 shooting and also grabbing four rebounds and two steals.

Kalena Myers (SO, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) and Jen Masello (SR, Darien, Ill./Downers Grove South HS) each added four points for the Auggies.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Saturday's game was the third meeting all-time between the Auggies and the Maroons with Chicago now holding a 3-0 record against Augsburg.
FOR THE FOES
• The Maroons were led by Peyton Van Soest with 20 points on 7-11 shooting from the floor.
• Klaire Steffens and Mallory Brodnik scored 15 and 11 for Chicago, respectively.
