KISSIMMEE, Fla.—Swarthmore College Women's Tennis earned its first win of its Florida trip and the 2017-18 season by beating the Millsaps College Majors 6-3 on Wednesday. The win against No. 31 Millsaps is an upset for unranked Swarthmore.

The Garnet overwhelmed the Majors in doubles, sweeping those matches 8-4, 8-1, 8-6. Swarthmore got tripped up in the top three singles flights, but came up strong in flights four through six.

Anna Scheibmeir won at fourth singles 6-4, 6-1. Audrey Haring earned a  three-set win in fifth singles (7-6, 5-7, 10-8), and Shivani Gupta won at sixth singles 6-1, 6-4. 

Swarthmore had gotten shut out in its previous matches this week in Florida, losing 9-0 to Case Western Reserve University and 7-0 to Division I US Naval Academy.

Swarthmore (1-4) plays in a tournament at the University of Mary Washington this weekend.
