WashU claims Victory over Southwestern Men’s Tennis

Southwestern Men's Tennis was defeated by Washington University St. Louis this past Friday, March 31, 2023. The Pirates put up a fight but lost 4-5.

The Pirates were down 1-2 after doubles but were clearly still in the match. Freshmen Parth Patel and Bernardo Clemente battled their opponents at line two doubles and came out with a win, getting the Pirates first point. This was an outstanding performance by Patel and Clemente.

Entering singles, the Pirates were ready to play hard to come back from 1-2 down. The energy was high and the men's team was amped up. Throughout the course of singles, Ryan Flanagan claimed the Pirates' next point in straight sets. At line six singles, Anton Borovik claimed another point for the Pirates, also winning in straight sets. The final point won by the Pirates was earned by Oscar Roy in a three set battle.

While the Southwestern Men's Tennis team battled hard, they did not quite get the win. This was a competitive match that gave the Pirates some tough matches. Although they did not win, they left this match better ready for conference.

Once again, be sure to mark your calendars for the Conference Tournament which will be held here at Southwestern University on April 28-30, at the Pirates' home courts!
