Demorest, GA - In the final road game of the season for the Piedmont College baseball team, it came down to extra innings as Emory University prevailed with a walkoff victory in the 11th inning 6-5. It was a passed ball on what would have been an intentional walk that scored the winning run for the Eagles.

Piedmont scored early taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as ZACH LANGLEY singled to score GRIFFIN OLSON but the Eagles answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to knot it up at one. Piedmont regained the lead in the third as BRECK DAVIDSON singled to score Olson again, but once more, the Eagles had an answer in the bottom of the inning as they took the lead 3-2 heading to the fourth. 

Emory tacked on another run in the fourth leading 4-2, but Piedmont scored three in the fifth to take the lead with three runs on three hits. The two scoring plays came with two outs in the inning as Langley doubled scoring WILL SKIDMORE and MICHAEL BARNES singled scoring EVAN GRESHAM and Langley. 

It was in the seventh that Emory tied the game at five and neither team could manage to break that tie in regulation forcing extra innings. Piedmont used just three pitchers in the contest as starter BEN MCCURLEY threw 3.2 innings followed by ALLEN TOKARZ who pitched four and a third and JOSH THOMAS who closed it out with the final 2.1 innings pitched. 

Turning Point
--A passed ball on an attempted intentional walk ended the contest as Emory won on a walkoff in the bottom of the eleventh inning.

Standout Performances
--ZACH LANGLEY was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored as Piedmont had four batters with two hits in the game.

Inside the Box Score
--ALLEN TOKARZ was solid in relief work tossing 4.1 innings giving up just one run on six hits against 17 batters.

News & Notes
--This marked senior day for the Eagles of Emory University.
