Emory Ranked Second in Collegiate Baseball Pre-Season Poll

From Emory University Athletics

After finishing as the runners-up at the 2014 NCAA Division III Baseball Championships, the Emory University Baseball Team will enter the 2015 campaign as the second-ranked squad in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Pre-Season Poll.

It marks the highest preseason ranking in the Collegiate Baseball News poll in the program's history, and the Eagles' best ranking in the poll overall since the final rankings of the 2007 season.

Emory went 38-13 during the 2014 campaign and matched the best finish in the program's history by placing second at the NCAA Championships.  Among Emory's returning players are consensus all-American Brett Lake, and all-region selections in Connor Dillman, Wes Peacock and Hans Hansen.

The Eagles will face three opponents during the 2015 regular season that are nationally ranked in the preseason poll – 11th-ranked Webster University (February 22nd in Millington, Tennessee), 16th-ranked Case Western Reserve University (March 9th and March 14th in Sanford, Florida) and 19th-ranked Birmingham-Southern College (March 3rd in Atlanta and March 31st in Birmingham, Alabama).  Emory will play an additional nine games against team that received votes in the preseason poll – February 15th at home and February 21st on the road against Rhodes College, March 10th and March 15th against Washington University (Mo.) in Sanford, February 16th at home against St. Joseph's (Me.), March 20th in Demorest and April 24th and 25th at home against Piedmont College, and March 12th against the University of Rochester in Sanford.
