From Washington University Athletics
Senior outfielder Chris Lowery was named to the All-America First Team by D3baseball.com and added All-America Second-Team honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings.
Lowery is just the fifth individual in WashU baseball history to earn All-America honors. He joins Steve Smith (1965), Marc Gluckman (1983) and Brandon Rogalski (2011) as the only First-Team All-Americans in program history.
The 2015 D3baseball.com Central Region Player of the Year, Lowery received All-Region First-Team honors from both D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings this season. He was also the 2015 University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Year and the UAA Championship Tournament Most Valuable Player. Lowery set single-season school records with 204 at-bats, 84 hits and 67 RBIs in his final collegiate season.
Lowery, who also earned D3baseball.com All-Region Third-Team honors in 2012 and 2014, finished his career as WashU's all-time hits leader with 243. He ranks fourth in school history in career games played (165) and RBIs (152), fifth in batting average (.384), tied for eighth in doubles (38), and ninth in stolen bases (38) and runs scored (133).
Lowery ranked in the top-10 in NCAA Division III in four offensive categories in 2015 – first in hits, second in RBIs, ninth in runs scored (55) and 10th in RBIs per game (1.34). He recorded hits in 43 of 50 games played this season, including a 20-game hitting streak from March 9-April 4. Lowery also finished the season with 25 multiple-hit games and 19 multi-RBI performances.
WashU finished the season with a 34-16 record, tying the program's single-season wins record. The Bears earned a share of the UAA Championship, and advanced to the NCAA Regional for the ninth time in school history.
