Big 2nd Inning Lifts Yellowjackets to 8-2 Win Over Keuka

The University of Rochester used a big 2nd inning, plating six runs, to top Keuka College 8-2 in non-league baseball action on Tuesday evening at Towers Field.
 
Rochester moves to 8-7 on the season with its third straight victory while Keuka falls to 3-10 on the year.
 
The visiting Wolfpack threatened in the top of the first inning, getting two runners on via a walk and infield single, but UR starter Luke Meyerson would induce a groundout to end the inning.
 
In the 2nd, Rochester scattered seven hits, five of them singles to send 10 batters to the plate, scoring six times.  Sam Steele had an RBI single, Sam Slutsky drove in two with a single, Brian Munoz doubled in a run and Nolan Schultz doubled in two for the Yellowjackets.
 
Keuka's John Rizzo would provide an RBI single in the fourth inning to get the Wolfpack on the scoreboard.  In the fifth, Brett Fenton drove in Ben Payton with a single to right, cutting the UR lead to 7-2 after the 'Jackets scored an unearned run in the fourth.
 
Three Rochester relievers, David Strandberg, Ethan McGowan and Grant Petito combined to allow just three hits and one walk over the final four innings to seal the win for UR.  Starter Meyerson went 5 innings, allowed 6 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks while striking out 4 in picking up his 2nd win in 48 hours.
 
For the Wolfpack, Cameron Hood picked up the loss allowing the big 2nd inning.  Four other Keuka reliever got work in, with Kyle Michaud tossing the longest outing at 3 1/3 innings.
 
At the plate, five UR players had two hit days, with Tyler Schmidt, Jake Meyerson and Steve Eychner joining Slutsky and Steele.  Slutsky, Munoz and Schultz each drove in two runs for the Yellowjackets.
