Hans Hansen Extends Scoreless Streak as Emory Runs Win Streak to Five

From Emory University Athletics

The third-ranked Emory University baseball team ran its win streak to five games on Saturday afternoon, defeating Huntingdon College 6-0. Emory is now 8-2 on the year while the Hawks slipped to 8-4.

Junior Hans Hansen had another stellar start as he continued his impeccable run to begin the season, going eight shutout innings to improve to 3-0. He allowed eight hits, all singles, and struck out seven in the game. Through his first three starts, spanning 21 innings, he has yet to give up a run and carries an impressive 17:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The Emory program record for consecutive scoreless innings is 27 set by Ryan Donegan in 2001.

On offense, the Eagles were led by their 2-3-4 hitters in senior Dylan Eisner and juniors Wilson Morgan and Brian Hernandez as the trio combined for nine of Emory's 12 hits with three hit efforts for each batter. The trio also drove in all six Eagle runs with Eisner tying a season-high with three RBI. Sophomore Nick Chambers added two hits for the Blue and Gold in his first game of the season at the top of the lineup.

Eisner began things with a two-run single with the bases loaded in the top half of the first to give Emory a quick two run edge.

The next inning Morgan collected a run-scoring single to make it 3-0 as senior Chris Slivka came around to score.

Eisner added another RBI in the top of the seventh, singling to center to bring home Morgan.

Hernandez provided the final blow in the ninth, hitting his second home run of the season, a two-run shot to right to provide the 6-0 final margin.
