Junior Brian Hernandez's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth capped off an impressive 7-6 come from behind victory for the #6/7 Emory University baseball team over Maryville College on Sunday afternoon at Chappell Park. The Eagles have now won three straight ballgames and eight of their last nine to improve to 23-7 on the season while the Scots fall to 21-11.

For the second consecutive game, Emory scored at least seven unanswered runs to knock off Maryville. The Scots posted a 6-0 lead through the first four and half innings, scoring all their runs off Eagles' starter Jackson Weeg. Emory tied the game in the fifth with six runs of their own before eventually winning the contest in the bottom of the ninth.

The Eagles sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fifth with six of them coming around to score as the Blue and Gold rallied all the back from a six-run deficit to tie the game. Junior Philip Maldari began the scoring by reaching on an infield single to short with the bases loaded, scoring senior Ben Vizvary. Junior Chris Young made it 6-2 with a sac fly to center to bring home senior Chris Slivka. Junior Wilson Morgan had the big hit in the frame with a two-run double to right to plate Maldari and sophomore Nick Chambers. Senior David Coble scampered home on a pass ball to make it 6-5 and Hernandez knotted the game up at 6-6 with a sac fly to right to score Morgan.

The Scots and Eagles traded zeroes until the bottom of the ninth. Coble picked up a one-out hustle double which was followed with an intentional walk to Morgan to make it second and first with one out with Hernandez coming to the plate. Hernandez delievered with a high chopper over Maryville's third basemen's head into right field. Coble scored easily from second on the play to give Emory the 7-6 victory.

Junior Kyle Monk went 1.1 hitless innings to earn his second win of the season. Classmate Luke Emmett was terrific in relief again, tossing 3.0 shutout innings in relief of Weeg. Emmett allowed just one hit to go along with three strikeouts.
