Twardoski guided the Eagles to a 34-12 record and a third straight NCAA South Regional title in 2016. It was the third consecutive 30-win season for Twardoski and company and the ninth overall under his tutelage while the College World Series berth marked the sixth overall for the program, all since 2000.

This is the third award recognition for Twardoski this season as he was named to the University Athletic Association Coaching Staff of the Year along with assistant coaches Bobby Perez and Sean Kelly and garnered D3Baseball.com South Regional Coach of the Year honors.

Earlier this season, Twardoski became the fourth head coach in Emory athletics history to eclipse the 500-win plateau with a 15-4 victory over the University of Chicago on March 26th. He will enter his 18th season with an overall record 514-236-1, good for a .685 winning percentage.
