Rochester lashed out 18 hits and scored in every inning in a 16-3 victory over Brandeis University at the UAA Championships.
The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Yellowjackets and boosted their record to 2-3. All five games have been UAA games. Brandeis slipped to .500 (4-4) overall. The Judges are 1-4 in the UAA.
Pete Carrier was 4-4 with three RBIs. Ryan Spurr also had a four-hit day (4-4). He scored two runs and drove in one. Steve Eychner scored three times (3-4) with two RBIs as did Grant Kilmer (3-3). Matt Todd scored three runs. Seven men had at least one base hit and eight men scored at least one run.
Luke Meyerson scattered nine hits over seven innings to get the complete game victory. He struck out three, did not walk a batter, and allowed three runs (two earned).
The Yellowjackets scored three times in the bottom of the first. Todd was hit by a pitch. Carrier singled to right, moving Todd to third. Nolan Schultz followed with an RBI single. Kilmer doubled in two more later in the inning.
In the second, Todd hit a sac fly for a 4-0 lead and Carrier homered to right. Brandeis nibbled for a run in the third on two singles sandwiched around a throwing error. Rochester took command in the bottom of the third with four more runs. Sam Steele and Eychner had RBI hits. Two more runs came home on an outfield error.
