On the mound, sophomore John Ghyzel tossed five innings of one-hit ball, allowing one run while striking out four in earning the win.

Junior transfer Pete Carrier got the scoring started for the Yellowjackets in the opening frame singling down the right field line, plating Meyerson and Todd for an early 2-0 lead.

In the fourth, Rochester doubled the lead with an RBI groundout from Sam Steele and RBI single from Eychner.

UR and the Violets (2-4) traded single runs in the fifth before swapping three runs each in the sixth.  Carrier scampered home on a wild pitch, Eychner provided another RBI on a groundout and Meyerson doubled in Spurr for Rochester's scoring in the sixth.

Todd and Meyerson then drove in runs in the eighth and Eychner clobbered a 2-run homer in the ninth to complete the Yellowjacket scoring on the night.  NYU plated four in a ninth inning rally, but came up short in the opener of the UAA Tournament for both teams.
