The Washington University in St. Louis baseball team won its fourth straight game to move into sole possession of first place in the conference standings with a 13-2 seven-inning win over Case Western Reserve University Thursday afternoon at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship.

WashU improved to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the UAA with the win, while Case dropped to 6-6 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The Bears are one game ahead of Case and Emory University with three games remaining. WashU and Emory square off at 2 p.m. (ET) Friday. The Eagles earned a 3-1 win over WashU on the first day of the UAA Championship Sunday 

For the ninth time this season, WashU got on the scoreboard in the first inning. With runners on first and second and one out, junior Christian Santos lined a single to center field to put the Bears ahead 1-0. Sophomore Conor O'Hara drew the Bears' third walk of the inning to load the bases, but a double play ended the threat for WashU.

The Bears broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning. O'Hara and freshman Ethan Kuehl hit back-to-back singles to start the inning and junior Ted Daley followed with a walk to load the bases. O'Hara scored on a fielder's choice by junior Spencer Egly and Kuehl came around to score on an error on the play to extend WashU's lead to 3-0. The Bears loaded the bases again with a single by junior Austin Darmawan and a walk by senior Max Golembo. Junior Ben Browdy then came through with a two-out single through the left side to score two more runs.

WashU made it 10-0 in the bottom of the fifth, taking advantage of three Spartan errors in the inning to score five unearned runs. Case kept the game going with two solo homeruns in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to 10-2. In the bottom of the seventh, Golembo reached on an error to lead off the inning and Browdy and Santos both hit singles to load the bases. O'Hara then roped a double to left field that scored all three baserunners to end the game.

The Bears had 15 hits in the game and six different batters recorded two hits each. Browdy and O'Hara had a team-high three RBIs apiece. Junior Brad Margolin improved to 3-1 with the complete-game win, scattering seven hits and striking out seven without allowing a walk.
