The New York University baseball team won both ends of a doubleheader at Yeshiva University on Thursday, May 4, at Overpeck Park, in Ridgefield Park, NJ.

NYU (21-13), who served as the home team in each contest, won game one 13-3, before taking the nitecap 7-4. The game two victory was the Violets' 21st of the season, which ties the program record for victories in a season during the three-year NCAA Division III history of NYU baseball.

"We've been getting better each year," said NYU Head Coach Doug Kimbler. "The players have worked hard to get better and our coaches have done a great job working to recruit great players and great kids. It's all paying dividends."

The Violets recorded 15 hits in the opener and got home runs from Colman Hendershot and Coltrane Taitin the victory. Leadoff hitter Ryan McLaughlin came around to score three times and Tait led the squad with five RBIs. Sal Cammisuli started the game on the mound and improved to 3-2 on the season with the win. Jake Kubiliun and Michael Anastasiou each pitched a hitless inning in relief.

In game two, the Violets scored four runs in the first inning with the big blow being a two-run home run off the bat of Hendershot. NYU led 5-0 going into the top of the sixth when Yeshiva scored four runs to make the margin one. The Violets got out of the jam and added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth en route to the 7-4 win.

Scott Hilbrandt was 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the offense, while six different pitchers combined to two-hit the Maccabees. Zach Cohen pitched the first two innings to earn the win while Matthew Milluscame in to get out of the jam in the sixth inning and close the game to earn his sixth save of the season.

"Matt was able to get ahead of hitters and when he does that he always fairs pretty well," added Kimbler.

BTW...

- The three home runs today give NYU 11 on the season. The Violets hit 11 combined in 2015 and 2016.

- Jarret Weiss, a senior who has served mostly as a pitcher during his three-year career, got two at bats in game one. He recorded a hit and also came around the bases to score a run.

- Millus' game-two save was the 18th of his three-year career.
