UAA Announces 2018 Baseball All-Association Team; John Howard of Washington University Named Pitcher of the Year; Two Share Top Position Player Honor

Junior John Howard of Washington University was named Pitcher of the Year, while junior infielders Colman Hendershot of NYU and Rocco Maue of UAA champion Case Western Reserve University shared Position Player of the Year honors as the UAA announced the 2018 Baseball All-Association Team.

Howard posted a 6-3 record with a 1.01 earned run average in 12 appearances, including 10 starts. He posted an identical 1.01 earned run average in UAA contests, earning a pair of wins and striking out 27 in 26.2 innings.

Hendershot finished the regular season with a .366 batting average, eight home runs, and 60 runs batted in. He hit six home runs and drove in 19 runs in Association play.

Maue is batting .349 with 10 doubles and a program-record 11 home runs and 32 runs batted in. He hit .338 with six homers and 14 RBI in UAA play.

Ryan Loutos of the Bears was selected as UAA Rookie of the Year, posting a 5-3 record and a 2.83 earned run average with 75 strikeouts in 57.1 innings of work. He finished 2-1 with 30 strikeouts in 25 innings in Association play.

Matt Englander and his coaching staff were named UAA Coaching Staff of the Year for leading the Spartans to the Association title.
