The Emory University Baseball team capitalized on six Washington University errors to take game one of the four-game series, 6-3, Friday afternoon at Chappell Park in Atlanta.

Sophomore Richard Brereton continued his strong performance on the mound, allowing just one run in seven innings of work while striking out a career-high nine batters to improve to 3-3 on the season. Senior Rhett Stuart tallied his first career save, pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Sophomores Jacob Greene and Christopher Stern led the Emory offense in the contest as Greene drove in a pair of runs with Stern hitting a solo home run in a 1-for-3 effort. Senior Nick Chambersracked up a game-high three hits, going 3-for-4.

After the teams traded runs in the first inning, the Eagles took the lead with a three spot in the fourth inning. Stern led off the inning with his round tripper before Emory added two more runs thanks to a pair of WashU defensive miscues.

The Eagles tacked on insurance runs in both the fifth and sixth innings on RBIs by Greene and junior Jackson Grayson. The Bears cut the lead to three with two runs off junior Charlie Redovian in the eighth but that was as close as the visitors would get as Stuart nailed down the save in the ninth.
