Colman Hendershot of NYU Named National Baseball Hitter of the Week

From NYU Athletics

Colman Hendershot of the New York University baseball team earned a pair of national honors as he was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Player of the Week on Wednesday, April 25, after being named to the d3baseball.com Team of the Week on Tuesday, April 24.

Hendershot, who was also named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Player of the Week, had a huge week at the plate as the Violets went 4-1, including 3-1 vs. UAA-foe Brandeis University over the weekend. The Lubbock, TX, native was 13-for-23 (.565) as he crushed six home runs and knocked in 15 runs. The first baseman had at least two hits in all five games, including Friday's 12-7 UAA win over Brandeis when he was 4-for-5 with three home runs and 7 RBI. Hendershot also had a pair of doubles as he slugged 1.435 during the week and came around to score 10 times. He was also perfect in three stolen base attempts.

The 2017 First Team All-UAA Honoree is the first player in both NYU and UAA history to receive the NCBWA award, which goes to the top offensive player across the country each week.
