Jonathan Iaione of the New York University baseball team was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday, March 6.

Iaione, the 2017 University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Year, had quite the week at the plate as he helped lead the Violets to wins in their first four games of the 2018 season.

The senior knocked in 13 runs while hitting .455 (5-for-11). Iaione also walked four times and reached base at a .588 clip as the Violets defeated SUNY New Paltz in Thursday's season opener and followed it up with a three-game sweep of SUNY Canton on Saturday and Sunday.. The third baseman's best game of the week came Saturday when he was 3-for-3 with a home run and eight RBI vs. SUNY Canton. 

Iaione was also lauded by the UAA as its Athlete of the Week for baseball.
