From NYU Athletics

The New York University baseball team completed a three-game sweep of host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a 15-1 victory over the Engineers on Sunday, April 8, in Troy, NY.

NYU improved to 20-4 with Sunday's victory, while RPI is now 11-11.

The Violets opened up the scoring in the top of the first when Coltrane Tait and Cooper Halpern each recorded a RBI single. A Jack Walter home run in the second inning gave NYU a 3-0 lead before the Engineers scored their only run of the game in the bottom half of the inning.

NYU scored a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth before a Colman Hendershot three-run home run in the sixth inning made the score 9-1.

Three more runs in the seventh inning, followed by a three-run ninth inning helped the Violets score double-digit runs for the 11th time this season.

Ford Ladd started the game on the mound for NYU and improved to 4-2 after tossing 5.2 innings in the victory. Braeden Duff, Joseph Prisco, Paul Gadaleta, and Matthew Millus combined to pitch 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to help preserve the victory.

Seven different Violets recorded a multi-hit game in the win, including the first five players in the batting order. Walter, the squad's leadoff hitter, came around to score four times.
