Colman Hendershot of the New York University baseball team was named a Google Cloud Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Tuesday, June 4.
Hendershot, who was named Third-Team Academic All-American, is the first-ever NYU baseball player and the 23rd student-athlete from NYU to receive CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition.
The Lubbock, TX, native recently completed a stellar senior season which earned him a great deal of recognition, including being named NYU Senior Athlete of the Year, First Team All-UAA, First Team All-ECAC, and Second Team All-New York Region by both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). During his senior campaign, he hit .355 with eight home runs and 45 RBIs in 39 games. He tallied 55 hits and stole 15 bases while only committing four errors in the field.
Over the course of his career, the first baseman has also been named to the UAA President's Scholar-Athlete Team twice, CoSIDA District 3 Academic All-District three times, UAA Spring Sport All-Academic three times, and Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Committee (IAAC) Spring Honor Roll three times.
Hendershot recently graduated from NYU's School of Professional Studies.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a scale of 4.0, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
