Ryan Jok of Carnegie Mellon Football Named Capital One Academic All-America

(TOWSON, Md.) – Senior defensive lineman Ryan Jok (Novi, Mich.) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team was named a Capital One Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Tuesday, December 3. Jok was selected to the first team after being selected as an All-District candidate the past two seasons.

Jok, a business administration major with a 3.76 GPA, earned All-University Athletic Association (UAA) First Team honors for the second time following the 2013 season as he returned to the top team after making the second team last year.  The three-year starter finished the season with 43 tackles, including a team-best 5.0 tackles for loss. A three-time All-UAA Academic award winner, he also had 2.5 sacks, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery. Jok was also the lone UAA representative on the team this season.

Jok's appearance on the squad marked the ninth year in a row Carnegie Mellon football has had at least one member named Academic All-America. During the nine-year stretch, 20 Tartans have been honored while Carnegie Mellon football ranks first in Division III institutions with 45 total CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-Americans and eighth among all of college football, Division I, II, III and NAIA.
