University of Chicago football players Scott Mainquist and Vincent Beltrano were each picked to the D3Football.com All-North Region Team on Monday.

Mainquist was a First Team Defense selection at his defensive tackle position. The senior was previously named University Athletic Association (UAA) Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-UAA. He tallied 43 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks on the year. His eight quarterback hurries led the team.

Beltrano repeated as a Third Team Defense honoree for the second-straight year. The junior cornerback led the Maroons with three interceptions, nine pass breakups and 12 passes defended. He also posted 50 tackles and two fumble recoveries and was selected First Team All-UAA.

The Maroons finished the season with an 8-1 record. The 2014 defense ranked nationally in a number of significant categories: No. 3 in first down defense, No. 7 in turnover margin (1.78), No. 8 in third-down defensive conversion percentage (.262), No. 8 in total defense (247.1 yards per game), No. 9 in rushing defense (84.1 yards per game) and No. 20 in scoring defense (15.1 points per game).
