From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics

The Carnegie Mellon University football program has reached an agreement to play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a home-and-home series for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.  The initial game of the agreement will be played in Pittsburgh on September 8, 2018. The Tartans will then travel to Claremont, California for the return game on September 14, 2019.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in football. Both Carnegie Mellon and CMS have proud academic and athletic reputations, and we are excited to meet on the gridiron," said Director of Athletics Josh Centor. "The Carnegie Mellon Athletics program aspires to provide a national experience for its student-athletes, and we are truly looking forward to playing football in Southern California."

When the two teams step on the field in 2018 it will be the first-ever meeting between the programs.

"The Carnegie Mellon Football Program is looking forward to playing Claremont-Mudd Scripts," said head coach Rich Lackner.  "The opportunity to host CMS in 2018 and travel to Southern California to play them in 2019 is a wonderful opportunity to compete against an excellent academic institution that plays great football."

Carnegie Mellon ended its 2015 season on a seven-game winning streak and won the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Legacy Bowl to finish with an 8-3 mark.  The Tartans will begin the 2016 season on September 3 when the Bears of Washington University travel to Pittsburgh for a 12:00 p.m. kick.
