Dayton Snyder & Scott Suren of CWRU Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

Case Western Reserve University seniors Dayton Snyder and Scott Suren were named to the Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), based on their achievements both on the field and in the classroom during their careers.

This was the first Academic All-District honor for both Snyder and Suren.

Snyder (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) is a two-time All-UAA Second Team honoree for the Spartans defensive line.  He has 119 tackles over his career, including 7.5 sacks and 17 tackles for a loss.  This season, he has notched 32 tackes and three sacks, with six total tackles for a loss.

A Biomedical Engineering major, Snyder has a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA at Case Western Reserve, and is a three-time UAA All-Academic honoree.

Suren (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) is also a two-time All-UAA Second Team honoree at safety.  He was named the PAC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season, after recording seven tackles, including two for a loss, a sack and a forced fumble.  For the season, Suren has 28 tackles and a pair of tackles to go along with an interception and nine pass breakups.

Suren has received UAA All-Academic recognition three times, and has recorded a 3.96 cumulative grade point average as a Mechanical Engineering major.

Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by members of CoSIDA. CWRU is in District 7, which includes Division III schools from Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

By virtue of being named to the Academic All-District Team, Snyder and Suren will be placed on the ballot for Academic All-America selection.
