Alec Stanke of Washington Tabbed Preseason All-America by Lindy’s

Senior punter Alec Stanke was named to the 2015 Lindy's Preseason All-America Second Team, announced Monday by the publication.

Stanke led the University Athletic Association and was tied for fourth in NCAA Division III a year ago in punting average (42.3). A first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) and D3football.com Second-Team all-South Region selection, he had eight punts over 50 yards, with a career-long 65 yarder at Centre College Sept. 27. Stanke also landed 11 punts inside the 20-yard line. As a team, WashU's net punting ranked first in NCAA Division III with a mark of 38.13.

Stanke, the 2014 UAA Special Teams Player of the Year, enters his senior season ranked third in school history in punting average (39.6).

WashU finished the 2014 season with a 4-6 overall record and tied for second in the UAA standings. The Bears host Carnegie Mellon University in the 2015 season opener at Francis Field Saturday, Sept 5., followed by their Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opener Sept. 19 at Centre College.
