Three UAA Student-Athletes Named to D3football.com Team of the Week

Three UAA student-athletes were named to the first D3football.com Team of the Week for the 2016 season.

Junior running back Sam Benger of Carnegie Mellon University and senior tight end Matt Page of Washington University were each honored on offense.

Benger recorded 251 yards on the ground and three touchdowns Saturday, averaging 6.0 yards per touch after recording a school record 42 carries in the Tartans' 41-34 overtime loss to the Bears. Benger moved into second-place on the school's all-time rushing list, as he now has 2,913 yards for his career. The junior has recorded a touchdown in 12 straight contests.

Page caught eight passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns in his first start after being converted from quarterback. Page grabbed the game-tying two-point conversion with 12 seconds left in regulation, and then caught the game-winning 29-yarder in overtime.

Sophomore Justin Phan of Case Western Reserve earned honors for special teams. He returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown to help the Spartans top the University of Chicago 45-17. Phan's return was the second-longest in program history. He added four catches for 62 yards.
