Five UAA student-athletes, representing four different institutions, were named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III Football Team.
Senior running back Chandler Carroll of University of Chicago was named to the first team after earning second team honors in 2016. He has a 3.71 grade point average in economics.
Senior defensive back Cody Calhoun of UAA champion Case Western Reserve University, who has a perfect 4.00 grade point average in biology/pre-medicine, garnered first team accolades.
Senior defensive lineman Garris Goe of Washington University, who maintains a 3.99 grade point average in economics and strategy, also earned a spot on the first team.
Sophomore defensive lineman Michael Lohmeier of Carnegie Mellon University was selected to the second team. He holds a 4.00 grade point average in business.
Junior Hank Michalski of the Bears was also named to the second team. He maintains a 3.85 grade point average while majoring in finance, and economics and strategy.
Twenty-six of the 42 members of the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III Football teams have at least a 3.90 GPA, with five student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. The 25 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.92.
The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
