New York Times Article on Branca's Passing

Ralph Branca passed away today, November 23, at the age of 90. The Mount Vernon, NY, native graduated from New York University in 1948 and played both baseball and basketball for the Violets. He was inducted into the NYU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1980.

Branca almost exclusively played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in his 12-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB) after being signed following a camp tryout. The NYU alum's best statistical season with the Dodgers came in 1947, when he pitched his way to a 21-12 record and a 2.67 ERA, leading Brooklyn to the National League pennant. That year, he also won game six of the World Series.

He leaves behind his wife (Ann), two daughters, (Patti and Mary Ellen) and two grandsons.
