The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team was
recognized for the second straight year by the National Association
of Basketball Coaches (NABC) when the committee on academics
announced the second annual Team Academic Excellence Awards for
2013-14. Besides the team being honored, seven members were
selected to the NABC Honors Court, recognizing those collegiate
basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the
2013-14 season.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, an
institution must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0
or better for the 2013-14 season. The Tartans earned a team
cumulative GPA of 3.22.
A record number 895 student-athletes from 335 colleges and
universities earned NABC Honors Court distinction. The
Tartans' seven members honored tied for sixth most amongst the 335
