Chris Klimek And Alan Aboona of Washington Named To All-Region Teams

Washington University in St. Louis senior forward Chris Klimek and senior guard Alan Aboona were named to the 2014 D3Hoops.com and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Midwest Region Team, as announced by the website.

Klimek, a first-team honoree, averaged 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game and led the University Athletic Association (UAA) in field-goal percentage (.613). He was the 2014 UAA Player of the Year and a first-team all-UAA selection for the second-straight year. Klimek scored in double figures in 23 of 27 games played, and became the 21st player in school history to join the 1,000-point club with 23 points against the University of Rochester Feb. 7.

Klimek started 74 of 76 games in his career and ranks 19th in school history with 1,125 points. A three-time all-UAA and all-Midwest Region selection, Klimek finished his career ranked third in school history in field-goal percentage (.579).

Aboona, a second-team all-Midwest Region selection, started 27 games at point guard for the Bears and led the team in scoring (17.4), three-pointers made (78) and assists (144). He scored in double figures in 24 games, and became the 22nd player in school history to join the 1,000-point club with 25 points in the regular-season finale at the University of Chicago March 1. Aboona ranked third in the UAA in scoring (17.4), assists (5.3) and threes made per game (2.9), and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.7).

Aboona appeared in 105 games in his career and ranks 22nd on the all-time scoring list with 1,057 points. A two-time first-team all-UAA honoree, he ranks fifth in school history in assists (425) and threes made (179), and sixth in free-throw percentage (.818).

Washington University finished the 2013-14 season with a 24-3 overall mark and won the UAA Championship with a 14-0 record. The Bears also made an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight year
