Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball sophomore Jack
Serbin (New Albany, Ohio) was honored by D3hoops.com on the
Team of the Week. Serbin helped the Tartans to a 1-1 mark over the
break while also playing a huge factor in the Cardinal and Gray
starting the season 9-0, its second best start in school
history.
In the two contests, Serbin recorded back-to-back double-doubles
giving him seven for the season. He averaged 19.0 points, 17.0
rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists during the stretch. He started
the break with 13 points and 14 rebounds in a 55-45 win versus
Juniata. He then topped his previous career-best in rebounds by
grabbing 20 while pouring in a season-high 28 points in the
Tartans' lone setback of the season, 70-68 to Heidelberg. His
20-rebound effort was the most rebounds recorded by a Tartan since
February 24, 2008 when Greg Gonzalez had 21 against Case Western
Reserve.
Serbin currently ranks fourth in Division III with seven
double-doubles and fifth in blocked shots, averaging 3.1 per
contest. The sophomore is averaging 19.5 points and 10.9
rebounds per game which ranks second best in the University
Athletic Association.
