Emory University senior Alex Foster (Portland, OR) has earned a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week following his performance in the Eagles' win over the University of Rochester this past Saturday. It is the second straight week and second time in his career that he has been selected for the honor.
Foster, who was also recognized as the University Athletic Association Player of the Week for his effort in the 84-69 win against the Yellowjackets, tallied a game-high 34 points while pacing all players with 13 rebounds. Foster was successful on a career-high tying 15-of-28 from the floor, including four three-point field goals in eight tries, in notching his 12th double-figure scoring performance of the season, his 10th of 20 or more points and third of 30-plus points. Foster rang up 26 second-half points, knocking down 11 field goals in 15 opportunities, which helped Emory to a 46-32 scoring advantage over the final 20 minutes of action.
Joining Foster on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week are Trae Washington (Franklin), Jordan Brink (Calvin), Lorenzo Williams (Brooklyn) and R.J. Rosa (New Paltz State). Foster is the first Emory player to capture back-to-back berths on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week.
Through games played Jan. 11, Foster leads the UAA and ranks fifth among all D-III players in scoring with an average of 24.6 points per game. In addition, he ranks fourth on the league with a 9.8 per-game effort in rebounding, which is good for 32nd place nationally. He holds down the No. 9 position in the conference in field goal percentage (.500, 107-of-214) and is eighth in three-point percentage (.425, 37-of-87).
