From Emory University Athletics
Emory University junior Davis Rao (Ft. Wayne, IN) has
been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's
Basketball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible, a nominee must
have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing at his/her
current institution, carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3
or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and be a starter or key reserve.
Emory is part of District 5 which is comprised of all Division III
schools in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri,
Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and
Virginia. Lilly will now move on to the national ballot for Capital
One Academic All-America recognition.
Rao majors in business administration and owns a 3.96 grade-point
average. A starter in all 20 games, he has averaged 7.4
points and 3.5 rebounds per outing in helping the Eagles to an
overall record of 15-5 and a No. 14 national ranking (through Feb.
1). The owner of six double-figure scoring games, he is
fourth on the team with 25 three-point field goals and is the midst
of a 13-game streak with at least one trey to his credit. He
is shooting 37.9 percent (25-of-66) from beyond the arc with that
mark good for 13th place on the UAA ladder.
Rao now advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team
ballot where, first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees
will be selected later this month.
