From NYU Athletics
Hakeem Harris of the New York Univesity men's basketball
team was honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA)
(Athlete of the Week), Metropolitan Basketball Writers
Association (Division II-III Co-Player of the Week) and
the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) (Division III Metro
Player of the Week) on Tuesday, February 17.
Harris helped lead the Violets (16-6, 7-4 UAA) to two
victories at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan over the weekend
and into a tie for first place in the Association
standings.
The junior guard began with a career- and game-high 32 points
during NYU's 94-73 win over Case Western Reserve
University on Friday, February 13. Harris followed that
up with a team-best 28 points in the Violets' 94-82
victory over Carnegie Mellon University on Sunday,
February 15. He has now scored at least 20 points in seven of 11
UAA contests and leads all Association players with 21.3 ppg in
conference play.
This is the second time this season that Harris, a junior
transfer from Division I Seton Hall University, has been recognized
by the UAA and MBWA. This is his first-ever ECAC honor.
