NABC Recognizes Chicago With Academic Honors

The University of Chicago men's basketball team received a Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and also placed five members of the squad on the 2014-15 NABC Honors Court on Thursday.

More than 175 colleges and universities earned the Team Academic Excellence Award by posting a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2014-15 season.

Additionally, UChicago juniors Nate Brooks, Scott Herlihy, Jordan Smith, John Steinberg and Alex Voss were named to the NABC Honors Court. A total of 1,000 student-athletes from more than 350 schools earned the honor. The qualifications for the Honors Court include academically a junior or senior and a varsity player; cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2014-15 academic year; students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution; and member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
