Washington Hosts DePauw in NCAA First Round Thursday

The No. 17-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team received an at-large bid and will host DePauw University in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Division III Championship Thursday at the WU Field House in St. Louis. The winner will travel to No. 8 Augustana College (Ill.) in the second round on Saturday.

WashU finished the regular season with a 20-5 record and placed second in the University Athletic Association (UAA) standings with a 9-5 mark. The Bears are making their 19th NCAA appearance as a Division III school and 22nd overall, and sport a 32-16 (.667) all-time post-season record in Division III play. WashU has made three Final Four appearances and was the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Division III National Champion. This marks the fifth time in the last six years that the Bears will host an NCAA First Round game.

DePauw (19-9, 9-9 NCAC) earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championship with a 69-56 victory over No. 20 College of Wooster. The Tigers won their three NCAC tournament games by a total of 21 points. DePauw is making its 13th NCAA appearance, and first since 2007. The Tigers have a 12-14 all-time record, including Final Four appearances in 1984 and 1990.
