Conor Smith Joins NYU Coaching Staff

From NYU Athletics

Conor Smith has been hired as an assistant coach of the New York University men's basketball team. His responsibilities include assisting in the daily operations of the program, as well as with on-court instruction.

A 2015 graduate of NYU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology, Smith was a three-year member of the Violets' basketball team who served as a captain during his senior season.

"It's great to have someone who is so familiar with the program available to join our staff," said Head Coach Joe Nesci. "Conor will be a great addition as a coach after his many contributions as a player."

Following graduation, Smith created and ran the Little Savages Basketball Clinic, a six-week summer program that trained a variety of basketball players ranging from second grade to high school students, as well as college players aspiring to play professionally.

Smith recently opened up "Go The Distance, LLC.", a company for basketball training and physical fitness.

"I feel so blessed to have been presented with this special opportunity to immediately give back to the NYU men's basketball program and to be able to coach an amazing group of men who I had the honor of calling my teammates over the past few years," Smith said.

Smith, who currently coaches second grade and seventh grade AAU teams in Harrison, NY, with Fenom Fitness, is a native and resident of Rye, NY.
