From University of Rochester Athletics

The University of Rochester withstood a couple of furious Vassar College rallies and wound up posting a 68-57 victory in the championship game of the Chuck Resler Men's Tournament at the Louis Alexander Palestra on Saturday night.
 
Tournament MVP Jared Seltzer led the way with 21 points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals. He hit 9 of his 18 floor shots, 3 of 8 outside the arc. Sam Borst-Smith was the other Yellowjacket in double figures. He scored 15 points, handed out 5 assists, made two steals and grabbed five rebounds. He was named to the All-Tournament Team.  Rochester is 2-1.
 
Vassar's selections were Erikson Wasyl with 19 points, eight rebounds, and two assists, and Jesse Browne, who scored 18 points, had four boards, two assists, and two steals. Wasyl hit 7 of 10 from the floor (5-8 outside the arc) and Browne made 8 of 13 from the floor (2-6 beyond the arc). Vassar is 1-2.
 
Rochester scored 17 points off 16 Vassar turnovers. The Yellowjackets had 10 steals. Michael Mangan had three, Zack Ayers and Ryan Clamage had one each in addition to the five produced by Seltzer and Borst-Smith.
 
Vassar couldn't find its offensive rhythm at the start. The Brewers hit just 2 of their first 13 shots from the field and turned the ball over four times. Rochester took advantage of the cold start, hitting 6 of 12 after missing 6 of the first 7 shots it had.  Then it was Rochester's turn to go cold. Vassar ran off 10 straight points – five apiece by Alex Seff and Spencer Einhorn. That cut the deficit down to 19-14 with 7:21 left in the half.
 
Seltzer and Ayers answered before Wasyl scored five points in 19 seconds to get it down to four points, 23-19, with less than five minutes to play. Rochester made five layups before the period ended and walked off the court with a 33-24 lead.
 
Browne made two layups in the first three minutes of the second half. The first one got Vassar within three, 33-30, and the second one kept the Brewers within four, 36-32. Mack Montague hit a trey for Rochester and Seltzer drove for a layup after stealing the ball. It gave Rochester a nine-point cushion (41-32). After that, the Yellowjackets were able to thrust-and-parry with the Brewers. The visitors drew within seven with 2:42 to play, but no closer.
