From Brandeis University Athletics

The Brandeis University men's basketball team led from wire to wire today in an 86-80 win as the Judges closed their 2016-17 campaign with a season sweep of University Athletic Association rivals NYU. Brandeis finishes their campaign with an 8-16 record, 4-10 in the UAA, while NYU closes at 7-18, 2-12 UAA.

FOR THE JUDGES

• Brandeis put a season-high five players in double figures in scoring.
• Junior Jordan Cooper (Weston, Fla./Sagemont School) led the offensive attack with 21 points, hitting 8-of-18 from the field, 1-of-2 from downtown and 4-of-5 from the line.
• Senior Robinson Vilmont (Cambridge, Mass./Wilbraham and Monson Acad.) closed his career in style, finishing two assists shy of a triple-double. He tallied 19 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.
• Rookie Eric D'Aguanno (Saunderstown, R.I./St. Andrews School) notched 19 points in 20 minutes off the bench.
• Senior Jack Fay (New Rochelle, N.Y./Suffield Acad.) had 11 points on three 3-pointers in his final contest, while classmate Tim Reale (Mason, Ohio/St. Andrews School) was one rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine boards, including four on the offensive glass.

FOR NYU

• The hosts had three players who combined for 59 of their 80 points.
• Joe Timmes had a game-high 24 points, hitting five 3-pointers. Timmes also led the Violets with eight rebounds and three steals.
• Ross Udine added 22 points and matched Vilmont with eight assists.
• Doug Gertner was the final NYU player in double figures with 13 points.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The Judges, who set a school record for 3-pointers in a game with 17 last time out, picked up where they left off, scoring triples on their first two possessions and never looking back.
• Brandeis shot 8-of-12 from 3-point range in the first half en route to a 45-32 lead.
• Cooper and Vilmont had 12 points each in the first half, while D'Aguanno had nine. Udine led all scorers for NYU with 13.
• The teams traded buckets for most of the early portion of the second half.
• Leading by 10 with 13:44 on the clock, Brandeis scored seven-straight, with a D'Aguanno trifecta at 10:48 establishing the Judges' largest lead at 68-51.
• The Judges were able to keep NYU at arm's length from there, with Timmes hitting three free throws with 19 seconds left to get them within six, but it was too little, too late.

BRANDEIS VS. NYU

• This was Brandeis's first season sweep of NYU since 2008-09.
• That was also the last time the Judges defeated the Violets in New York.
• The Brandeis women opened the day with a 50-47 win over NYU, marking the first-ever doubleheader sweep for the Judges in the Big Apple.
