Andrew Sanders of Washington University Headed to Europe with Global Sports Academy

Washington University in St. Louis junior forward Andrew Sanders will conclude his final weeks of the summer as part of the Global Sports Academy's 2016 Men's Basketball Goodwill Tour in Europe. Sanders has been invited to join Global Sports Academy for its 10-day trip to Belgium, England and Holland from August 8-16. 

Sanders will be part of a 10-member team scheduled to play three games against various club teams throughout Europe. There will also be several sightseeing opportunities as the group travels to numerous cities, including Brussels, Amsterdam and London.

A First-Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection, he averaged a team-best 15.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in 25 starts for the Bears at power forward a year ago. Sanders scored in double figures in 20 of 25 games played, including a career-best 26 points in a 96-80 win at Case Western Reserve University Jan. 15.

He recorded a team-high 12 double-doubles, and led the UAA in free-throws attempted (159) and was second in free-throws made (111). Sanders also ranked third in the conference in rebounding, sixth in scoring and seventh in field-goal percentage (51.3).

Sanders will be the lone Division III student-athlete on the roster, joining nine Division I teammates: Joel Angus III (Southeast Missouri State), Turner Botz (Wisconsin Green Bay), Andrew Drone (Rice), Aaron Jordan (Illinois), Quentin Peterson (VMI), Mike Rodriguez (Southern Illinois-Carbondale), Tyler Smithpeters (Southern Illinois-Carbondale), Christian Thieneman (Marshall), Brandon Watkins (West Virginia).
