Joe Timmes of NYU Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

Joe Timmes of the New York University men's basketball team was named Men's Division III College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-America Third Team on Tuesday, February 23. 

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a scale of 4.0, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution. 

The senior captain is the second NYU men's basketball player to ever receive the prestigious honor and the first since 1996 (Greg Belifanti, Second Team). 

Timmes, who was recently named Honorable Mention All-University Athletic Association (UAA), finished second on the squad in scoring (14.1 ppg), rebounding (6.8 rpg) and minutes (30.8 mpg). The Chatham, NJ, native finished eighth in the UAA in rebounding and ranked 11th in both scoring and three-point percentage (39.2%).

A sports management major in NYU's School of Professional Studies, Timmes is due to graduate in May.
