Maroons Place Six Players on NABC Honors Court

Six members of the University of Chicago men's basketball team received recognition on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for the 2016-17 academic year.

In Tuesday's announcement, the Maroons were represented on the list by Collin Barthel, Jake Fenlon, Alex Gustafson, Tyler Howard, Ryan Shearmire and Porter Veach. It marks the second-straight selection for both Gustafson and Howard.

Eligibility requirements for the NABC Honors Court include:

  • Varsity player with junior or senior academic standing;
  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the academic year;
  • Must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution;
  • Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.

Last week, UChicago men's basketball also received the 2016-17 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better.
