Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball coach Mark Edwards will receive the 2018 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III Outstanding Service Award at the NABC Division III Coaches Meeting March 30 in San Antonio.

Edwards joins Bill Nelson of Johns Hopkins University and Bob Scholsser of Elizabethtown College as the recipients of the 22nd annual service awards.

The award has been presented annually since 1997 and is given to coaches whose actions "inside and outside the lines" of coaching have distinguished them as valuable members of their communities.

Edwards has a 685-293 (.700) record in 37 seasons as his alma mater, and led the Bears to the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Division III National Championship. He ranks fifth in active victories by a Division III head coach and ninth all-time in NCAA Division III wins, and has guided WashU to 15 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships and 20 NCAA Tournaments.

Edwards is a three-time National Coach of the Year and nine-time UAA Coach of the Year recipient, and has recorded 34-straight winning seasons. He led the Bears to a 22-4 record in 2017-18, including a second-straight UAA title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
