Emory Men's Basketball Prepares For Italy Tour

From Emory University Athletics

The Emory men's basketball program will travel overseas to Italy, August 9-17, on a foreign tour that will see it play three contests against Italian all-star teams.

The Eagles are slated to play games on Aug. 11, 13 and 15.  August 10, 12, 14 and 16 will be off days for the squad.  Among the cities Head Coach Jason Zimmerman and his team will visit will be Rome, Florence, Milan and Lake Como.

"We are looking forward to the foreign tour to Italy and the experience that it will provide members of the team," said Zimmerman.  "The opportunity to be together to travel, practice and compete as a group is very special to us.  Our last two foreign tours helped set the stage for successful seasons. We are excited to see where this process can lead our 2017-18 team."

Emory travelled to Ireland in 2011 and Germany in 2014.

Emory finished the 2016-17 campaign with an overall record of 19-8 and made the program's fifth straight trip to the NCAA D-III Tournament, where it advanced to the Round of 32.
Among the 10 returning vets on the 2017-18 squad include senior Adam Gigax (18.3 ppg, 4.8 apg), who captured First Team All-University Athletic Association honors, and classmate Whit Rapp, who doled out a school-record 230 assists en route to a berth on the league's honorable-mention team

The team will begin practice at the Woodruff PE Center the evening of August 2 before departing from Atlanta the evening of August 9th.  The Eagles will return home the afternoon of August 17.
