Emory's Adam Gigax Named D3Hoops.com Preseason All-American

From Emory University Athletics

With the 2017-18 season quickly approaching, Emory University senior Adam Gigax continued to add to his collection of awards when he was named a D3hoops.com Preseason All-American. Gigax was chosen to the fourth team and was the lone player from the University Athletic Association to garner any recognition.

The 6-foot-7 Gigax captured a number of honors last season after pacing the team in scoring with an 18.3 points per game average, second among UAA players and the 10th-highest seasonal effort in school history. A First Team All-UAA honoree and Second Team All-South District selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, Gigax recorded double-figure scoring in 21 games and totaled 13 performances of 20 or more points.  His 494 points established a program record for most points by a junior and was the fourth-highest overall total in school annals. Named the UAA Player of the Week on three occasions last year, his team-high 80 three-point field goals represented the second-highest mark in Emory history and ranked him 35th among D-III players.

Heading into his final season at Emory, Gigax has appeared in 69 games, 52 as a starter, and stands prominently in a number of Emory career categories including fifth in free throw percentage (.858, 109-127), ninth in three-point field goals (137), 13th in three-point field goal percentage (.380, 137-of-361) and 14th in scoring average (12.5 ppg).

Earlier, Gigax was named a D-III Preseason Honorable Mention by Street & Smith's and was named as one of the Top 24 Players by DIII News.
