The New York University men's fencing team officially completed
competition for the 2013-14 season, as two of its fencers finished
up their bouts at the NCAA Fencing Championships at Ohio State
University in Colombus, OH, on Sunday, March 23.
Sophomore Andrew Kelly competed in men's
sabre, winning two of his bouts on Saturday and earning another
three victories on Sunday to finish with five total wins. He
finishes the Championships in 24th-place overall.
Senior captain Christian Vastola took part in
the men's foil competition, earning five wins on Saturday and
another two on Sunday to end with seven victorious bouts. He
finishes the Championships in 22nd-place overall.
Based on the two fencers' performances, the Violets wind up 23rd
nationally.
Penn State University won the 25-team competition, which included
men's and women's teams from all three NCAA divisions.
